Objectives: The researchers explored the use and effects of family therapy interventions introduced during the counseling of a schizophrenic family with family conflicts and a socially maladjusted member.
Methods: The researchers conducted a process-and-change analysis of the transcript and presented the results with graphs and pictures.
Results: As a result of the therapy, the client achieved stable emotional expression, and through the improvement in her symptoms, she was better able to perform social roles. Moreover, the client and her family began to hold more practical expectations. With an active will to change, rehabilitation also became possible. As the therapy proceeded, the level of communication among the family members became deeper and more positive and, simultaneously, various family problems were solved.
Conclusions: The results indicate that MRI and stress-diathesis models are effective. The researchers concluded that as important as these therapeutic procedures were, the intervention of following up control was just as important.
